ASTR 102: Observational Astronomy

3 Semesters (2010-2011)

Course Description: Hybrid Lecture-Lab course covering general astronomy topics with a focus on a general knowledge of operating telescopes for "by eye" observations of astronomical objects.  Topics include types and properties of telescopes, coordinate systems, reading star charts, visible lunar features, stellar types, and galaxy morphologies.

Astronomy Youth Adventure Program

1 Summer (2011)

Description: A 1 week summer course for middle-high school students.  Topics included properties of stars, telescope types and designs, constellations, and included an evening observing session and a trip to NASA Johnson Space Center.
